Summer and Fall 2018 Permit Request Form

Course permitting schedule for Fall 2018:

  • Permit request and approval began during Phase 1 registration in April and May.
  • Permit requests will reopen August 1 and will be approved on a rolling basis as space allows in the requested course.

Please read the requirements below before you request your permit:

CETL 8713 Fundamentals of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
To be considered for a permit for CETL 8713, submit both this permit request AND the Tech to Teaching interest form.

CETL 8717 Course Design for Higher Education
Successful completion of CETL 8713 or equivalent Tech to Teaching learning outcomes is recommended but not required. Complete this permit request.

  • Permits are no longer required for academic communication courses for nonnative/nonfluent English communicators: CETL 8723, CETL 8797, CETL 8796.

Terms of the CETL Graduate Course Permit Process
  • Students must meet all of the course requirements for any course they request a permit for.
  • When a permit is issued, the student should receive an email.  However, students must use OSCAR as their confirmation that the permit has been issued. The permit will appear in OSCAR.
  • Permits allow the student to register for the course (if open). Permits do not guarantee a seat in the course and do not register the student for the course.  It is the student's responsibility to register for desired courses in OSCAR after receiving the permit. A permit does not obligate the student to take the course.
  • Students choose to enroll in CETL 8713 and CETL 8717 as graded or pass/fail. If the course is to be used toward the doctoral minor in higher education, the course must be graded.
  • Errors can occur in OSCAR. CTL is not responsible for activity on OSCAR.
