Jake Soper

College of Sciences

Dr. Jake Soper is an associate professor in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry and has served on numerous committees related to student learning and success, at both the School and Institute levels. A former Hesburgh Award Teaching Fellow and Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) Innovation Pathway Fellow, Dr. Soper is committed to engaging, collaborative, and innovative teaching and learning opportunities and actively creates these opportunities for his students. For example, he has partnered with the School of Public Policy to bring policy issues into his introductory chemistry courses. He says, 


             Collaborating with the SPP TAs has literally changed the way I approach chemistry education. More generally, it has revealed an untapped  
             opportunity to utilize the tremendous breadth of expertise on campus to enhance learning for our undergraduates by making powerful
             connections between subjects that are traditionally presented as distinct or disparate topics.
