Tammy M. McCoy, Ph.D.
Assistant Director for TA Development and Future Faculty Initiatives
Tammy M. McCoy is the Assistant Director for TA Development and Future Faculty Initiatives in the Center for Teaching and Learning at Georgia Tech. She provides professional development for the Institute’s teaching assistant (TA) population and leads programs that prepare graduate students and postdoctoral scholars for academic careers through teaching development, college teaching certification, and faculty job-market preparation. McCoy earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Tech, along with an M.S. in Materials Engineering from Auburn University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University. Guided by an approach rooted in connecting, caring, cheering, and championing others, McCoy cultivates inclusive and supportive learning spaces that value, empower, and inspire all. She refined her professional skills through her work as a high school science teacher, a chemistry lecturer at a small liberal arts women’s college, and an engineering instructor at a multi-campus community college.
