Turn Conflict into Conversation: Facilitating Productive and Respectful Dialogues
January 21st, 2025 | 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. | Crosland 4160
One important goal of a college education is for students to engage in productive discussions about important issues, even when they disagree. Our classrooms are key spaces where students can practice effective, respectful discussion. In this workshop, participants will review a variety of resources, including ones from the Difficult Dialogues National Resource Center, and identify opportunities to integrate them into their courses. These resources are especially useful for instructors who may need to manage hot-button discussions that can pop up in response to current events. This workshop is a repeat of the Fall 2024 Facilitating Productive and Respectful Conversations workshop.
Workshop Facilitators
- Laura Carruth, associate vice provost for Transformative Teaching and Learning and executive director, Center for Teaching and Learning
