CTL facilitators set a topic for discussion, but these events are designed to be faculty-driven conversations. CTL’s technology experts are there to share relevant campus technologies and pedagogical insights.

Web Accessibility & Canvas: What the New Guidelines Mean for You

A new U.S. Department of Justice rule requires all state entities to make their web content and mobile applications accessible to individuals with disabilities by April 24, 2026. Course content published through Canvas falls under this requirement. Join us to discuss what this rule means for us at Georgia Tech. We’ll consider how effective use of Canvas and Canvas tools can help you meet the requirements without significantly adding to your workload. More importantly, we’ll explore Universal Design for Learning principles underlying the law that help us better support learning for all students.
Flexible vs. Fuzzy: Balancing Structure and Freedom in Courses

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) encourages intentional flexibility in how learners engage with material, access content, and demonstrate learning to address learner variability; this flexibility allows students multiple means of engagement, representation, and action & expression. Have you wondered if your course is too rigid or too flexible, or asked yourself how to create flexible activities and assignments that meet instructional goals without causing you or your students to feel overwhelmed? This roundtable will explore the tension between flexibility and structure in courses and share practical strategies for using technology and UDL principles to support diverse learners while maintaining clear expectations.
Exploring Generative AI to Support Universal Design for Learning

This discussion explores how Generative AI tools can support Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles in higher education. This session invites faculty to share experiences, brainstorm practical use cases, and discuss challenges and opportunities in using AI to create more flexible and engaging learning experiences while removing barriers to learning. Whether you’re new to UDL or experimenting with AI in your teaching, this collaborative conversation will offer insights and ideas for enhancing access, representation, motivation, and creating flexibility in your course.
